The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office in Viroqua believes that alcohol likely contributed to a Feb. 20 crash that injured a snowmobiler.
David Wooden, 46, of La Crosse lost control of the snowmobile about 10:20 p.m., struck a tree at the Stoddard Boat Landing and was thrown from the snowmobile. He was wearing a helmet.
According to the Vernon County Broadcaster of Viroqua, Wooden is in serious condition at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.
Assisting at the scene were the Stoddard Fire Department and First Responders, Tri-State Ambulance, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the DNR.
