Larry Sletten, age 85, of Reed, WI, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at his farm after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 21, 1940 on Chase Road near Red Mound, WI, one of five children born to Edwin and Fae (Marshall) Sletten.
Although Larry grew up in Coulee Creek, his true home was in The Sugar Creek Valley, where he moved in 1953 and has lived and loved for the past 73 years. Larry married Sally Kontak in December 1977 and they went on to buy their farm in 1979, where they raised their sons, Todd and Loren, and where he spent the remainder of his days.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026 at Popp Funeral and Cremation Services in Viroqua. A private family burial will take place in the Freeman Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Ferryville. Visitation will be on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026 from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials in Larry’s name are preferred. Popp Funeral and Cremation Services in Viroqua is entrusted with his services.
