The Southern Grant Road Crew is the recipient of a grant from United Way of Platteville.

Southern Grant Road Crew provides rides to and from taverns, supper clubs, casinos, reception halls and community events in minivans. The service picks up people at their homes, takes them to their destinations, and brings them home at the end of the night.

The Road Crew also provides one-way rides home from taverns, supper clubs, casinos, reception halls and community events.

“The mission of the Road Crew is to make roads safer for the entire community by decreasing the number of impaired drivers,” said Daniel Timmerman of Kieler. “Our efforts resulted in 137 fewer alcohol crashes, 41 fewer alcohol-related fatalities, and 91 fewer drunk-driving charges issued. Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman commended the Southern Grant Road Crew by stating that for the first time in at least 23 years, there were no alcohol-related fatalities in Grant County.”
