Samples taken for Warehouse restoration
5-26 warehouse 0

You may have wondered what was going on at the A.D. German Warehouse on Thursday and Friday of last week.

Preservation architects from Isthmus Architecture, Inc. were in Richland Center using a “high-lift” to take samples and photograph the concrete, brick and grout on the exterior of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed A.D. German Warehouse. Laura Davis and Peter Rott from Isthmus Architecture will determine the actual condition of the exterior elements of the building, which will enable a more clear answer of repair procedures and costs.

Once this work is complete, the A.D. German Warehouse Conservancy, Inc. (ADGWC) and Isthmus Architecture will submit documents applying for federal and state tax credits as well as a restoration grant from the Getty Foundation. If successful, this will enable ADGWC to launch a capital fundraising campaign to complete the restoration plan.

For more information on the project, visit adgermanwarehouse.org or e-mail larbegust@gmail.com. ADGWC welcomes community participation in raising funds and volunteers who are interested in working at The Warehouse.
