The Vernon County Historical Society has received a mini-grant from the Wisconsin Historical Society of Madison to support the purchase of collections management software for the Vernon County Museum.

The award is one of 25 mini-grants, totaling over $15,000, the society–along with the Wisconsin Council for Local History–has given to affiliated local historical societies.

This year’s affiliate mini-grant program focused on projects and activities that strengthen a local  organization’s ability to preserve and manage historical collections, as well as manage its other resources. The projects the mini-grant program supports are part of the work organizations such as the Vernon County Historical Society do to collect and preserve Wisconsin’s history at the community level.

The Wisconsin Historical Society’s Field  Services Progam provides support and educatinal opportunities to local history groups throughout Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Historical Society also partners with the Wisconsin Council for Local History, a non-profit organization consisting of all historical organizations affiliated with the State Society that promotes communication and cooperation among local history groups.
