Andrew “Andy” Schlarmann, 63, Dubuque, Ia., died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Unity Point-Finley Hospital with his best friend and wife at his side.

He was born June 29, 1950 in Manchester, Ia., the son of Leonard and Bernice (Wilson) Schlarmann.  He grew up in Strawberry Point, Ia., and graduated from the Strawberry Point High School with the class of 1968.  Andy served his country with the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972, and was stationed in Germany.

Friends may greet the family from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Hoffmann Schneider Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1640 Main St., Dubuque, Ia., where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m.  Rev. Dianne Grace will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League.

Memorials may be made to the Veteran’s Freedom Center, Dubuque; or to the Green Island Nature Center.
