Betty June Fogo Havlik died Oct. 12, 2013 at the age of 83 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born at home on June 14, 1930 in Fogo Valley, Rockbridge, Wis., as the fifth daughter to Harley and Lena Banker Fogo. She graduated from the 1948 class of Richland Center High School . Betty met her husband, Albert L. Havlik, while working at the JC Penney Company and together they had four daughters. She was a long time employee of Gold Bond Ice Cream in Richland Center. After retirement, she became involved with numerous community boards and committees including Richland county board, Pine Valley board, Richland County Fair board, and held the position as Dayton Township Clerk. Betty was a very active and proud member of Peace United Methodist Church. It was always important for Betty to host large family gatherings and she treasured every moment that she had with all of her family members. Betty enjoyed sewing, canning, feeding the birds, gardening in her flower garden and spending time with her animals.
Betty is survived by her sister, Frances Coy of Rockbridge; her four daughters: Sandra (Frank) Vaughn of Marine, Minnesota; Nancy (Dave) Kropp of Richland Center; Elizabeth Havlik of La Crescent, Minnesota; and Annette Berns of Stillwater, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, and one special kitty, Toodles.
Betty’s memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 at the PEACE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 265 North Church Street, Richland Center. Pastor Bill Busch officiated. Visitation was held at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. The family suggests memorials in Betty’s name be directed to the Ocooch Mountain Humane Society cat shelter. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements.
