Dorothy A. Stanek, age 91, of Hillsboro, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro, Wis.

She was born on Jan. 16, 1923 to Edward and Maggie (Wopat) Herbeck in the Town of Greenwood.  Dorothy was united in marriage to Raymond J. Stanek on June 8, 1943 in Hillsboro.  They dairy farmed on the Stanek family farm in the Town of Woodland for many years.  They later sold their farm to their son, Mike and moved to a home near there.  Raymond preceded her in death on April 2, 2005.

Survivors include her children, Ramona (Calvin) Van Kirk of Milton, Mike (Nancy) Stanek of rural Wonewoc, Janet Stanek (Charlie Hickenbottom) of Wenatchee, WA, Tony (LaDonna) Stanek of Denison, TX and Kris (John) Pastor of Edina, MN; daughter-in-law, Patricia Stanek of Waunakee and son-in-law, Randy Hynek of Bourbonnais, IL; 14 grandchildren, Kevin, Sara, Kerri, Ryan, April, Julie, Jake, Ben, Jon, Raymond, Samantha, Alex, Evan and Cole; great grandchildren Samantha, Kaylee, Addison, Heather, Felicia, Chase, Kylar, Nickolas, Payton, Elly, Mikayla, Micah and Lucus and a great great granddaughter; Morgan.

In addition to her husband, Raymond; she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bernard Stanek; daughter, Kathleen Hynek; and brothers, Robert, Dan and Sylvester Herbeck.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 12  p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with Father Loren Bowens officiating.  Burial was in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.  Friends called at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.  For online information go to www.pichafuneralhomes.com
