Harold R. Shear, age 80 years, of Hillsboro, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Milestone Senior Living in Hillsboro, Wis.
He was born Nov. 20, 1935 to Walter C. and Freeda (Spears) Shear in Hillsboro, Wis. Harold was united in marriage to Patricia Rogers on Aug. 20, 1955 in Union Center, Wis. She preceded him in death on Oct. 30, 2009.
Harry was very active and worked for many years as a City & Industrial Well Driller. Other jobs he held were as a dump truck driver for Kraemer’s, operated a gas station in Hillsboro, worked for METCO and the City of Hillsboro.
He also enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, especially traveling out west. He was often found working on various projects, including cars and small engines. In more recent years, he would drive for Amish families in the area and became good friends with them.
Survivors include his children, Gary (Janice) Shear of Wonewoc, Cindy (Duane) Talmage of Menomonie, Jim (Mary Beth) Shear of Wonewoc, Cheryl (Douglas) Schober of Holmen and Marv (Cheryl) Shear of La Crosse; ten grandchildren, Nick Shear, Jenna Shear, Ben Talmage, Brad Talmage, Ryan Shear, Garrett Shear, Matt Schober, Nikki Schober, Joel Shear and Dalton Shear; and three great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Pat, he was preceded in death by his parents; half-brothers, Matthew, Burt and Buford Shear and a half-sister, Dorothy Short.
A time of visitation was held on Monday, March 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in the St. Theresa’s Catholic Cemetery in Union Center at a later date.
