Janice M. Mathys-Schmitz, 73 of Freeport, Ill., formerly of Darlington, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012, at Liberty Village Manor Court in Freeport following a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born Aug. 26, 1938, in La Farge, the daughter of Virgil and Molly (Lombard) Barclay. Janice grew up in La Farge until moving to Darlington. Funeral services were held Friday, March 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. Full obituary in the March 22, 2012 issue of the Republican Journal.
