Marian S. Stanek, age 93, of Hillsboro died on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at Milestone Senior Living in Hillsboro.

She was born Aug. 8, 1920 the daughter of Stephan and Carla (Jacobson) Erlandson. She graduated from eighth grade at Jug Creek. On Oct. 28, 1941 Marian was united in marriage with Joseph F. Stanek. They farmed on Morning Star Ridge until 1968, when they moved to La Farge. She then worked in the dietary department at La Farge Schools from 1968 until 1972. Marian moved to Hillsboro and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the dietary department for 19 years until retirement. Joseph preceded her in death in 1971.

Survivors include Her brother: Harlan ‘Dode’ (Ann) Erlandson of La Farge; one sister: Winnie Knadle of Hillsboro; sisters and brothers in law, Evelyn Erlandson of Hillsboro, Orville Clark of Westby, Loretta Erlandson of West Virginia; Many nieces and nephews

In addition to her husband, Marian was preceded in death by their infant son, Joseph; her sisters Caroline Erlandson, Edith Clark, Verna (Vernon) Clark, Orine (Arthur) JaDoul; brothers: John, Stanford (Eunice), Lars, Arvid (Agnes), Clifford (Florence), Arnold Erlandson.

The funeral mass for Marian S. Stanek was held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 14, 2013 at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Hillsboro. Father Donald Bauer officiated, and burial was in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Dilly. Friends called at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass at 11 a.m. The Seland Huston Funeral Home of La Farge served the Stanek family.
