Mary E. O’Connor, age 84 years, of Hillsboro, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Heritage Manor in Elroy, Wis.

She was born on Feb,  12, 1931 to John and Nell (Kinsella) Malphy at Ontario, Wis., and grew to adulthood in the St. Mary’s Ridge area.  Mary was united in marriage to Bernard Watson on Sep. 9, 1950 in Hillsboro; he preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1967.  Mary later married Thomas J. O’Connor on June 8, 1971 in Hillsboro; he preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1977.

Mary worked for a short time at the hospital in Hillsboro and for many years as a store clerk at the Ben Franklin variety store in Hillsboro.  She was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church.  She enjoyed the wildlife very much, especially the birds and deer and also enjoyed her flowers.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Jean) Watson of Hillsboro and a brother-in-law, Adolph Burdick of Elroy.

In addition to her husbands, Bernard Watson and Thomas J. O’Connor, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Madeline (Max) Walker, Patricia (Myron) Arttus, Rita (Byron) Lawrence and Rose Burdick and brothers, Donald Malphy and Joseph (Gloria) Malphy.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with Father Don Bauer officiating.  Burial was in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro.  Friends called at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 to 1 p.m.  For online information go to www.pichafuneralhomes.com
