Michael J. Ensch, age 61 of rural Shullsburg, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017 at Four Winds Manor in Verona. He was born Oct. 6, 1955 in Darlington the son of Edward and Sylvia (Brugger) Ensch. Michael graduated from Shullsburg High School and later received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville. He lived outside of Shullsburg his entire life on the family farm where he successfully managed it.
Michael is survived by his brother: David (Mary) Ensch of Madison; five nieces and nephews: Mark (Patti) Glendenning of Green Bay, Brent (Amy) Glendenning of DeForest, Ann (John) Malooly of Salt Lake City, Utah, Julia Ensch of Milwaukee, and Catherine Ensch of Minneapolis, Minn. He was preceded in death by his father in 1983; his mother in 1998; and one sister: Donna Glendenning in 2015.
Michael was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Shullsburg and Shullsburg Knights of Columbus Council #1501. His farm was his pride and joy and absolutely enjoyed managing his dairy farm and herd until his retirement. Michael will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church (344 N. Judgement St., Shullsburg) where Rev. Sudhakar Devarapu officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation was held Friday, Aug. 11, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement St., Shullsburg) where a rosary was prayed at 3:45 p.m. A visitation was also held Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the church.
