Norma Mary (Housner) Stanek, age 93 years, of Hillsboro, died on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at home surrounded by family.

She was born on Jan. 8, 1921 in rural Yuba, the daughter of Paul and Emma (Beranek) Housner.  Norma attended Green Creek School for 8 years.  She united in marriage to Paul F. Stanek on Sept. 17, 1940.  They were married for 57 years until Paul’s death in 1997.

Norma and Paul lived on the family farm south of Hillsboro where they raised 13 children.  Norma belonged to the Greenwood Homemakers, 500 Marathon Club, Super Sixties and Cesky Den.  Norma and Paul were Cesky Den King and Queen in 1993.  After selling the farm to son, Allen and Lori, they moved to a home one mile south of Hillsboro off of County Q, later moving into Hillsboro to her current residence.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; son, Francis (1966); daughter, Joanne (1974); grandson, Jesse (1984); husband, Paul (1997); brother, Ernest (2003); sisters, Mildred (Rudy) Wopat (1992) and Marcella (James) Darcy (2012).

She is survived by 11 sons, Paul (Pat) of Stillwater, OK, Leonard (Rosemary) of Oshkosh, Charles (Kay) of Hillsboro, David (Ann) of Munnesville, NY, Ron (Judy) of Sparta, Dennis (Paula) of Onalaska, Joe (Karen) of Hillsboro, Norman (Joanne) of Sparta, Allen (Lori), Gary (Lori) and Rick (Mary), all of Hillsboro. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and relatives.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, with Father Donald Bauer officiating.  Interment was  at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 16 at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro.  A prayer service was held following visitation.  For online information go to www.pichafuneralhomes.com
