Orpha I. Shore, 1934-2013

Orpha Irene Shore, age 79 of Burnett, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 at home.

Orpha was born on Aug. 18, 1934 in Hillsboro, WI to Alvin and Amelia (nee Dickau) Hubbard. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1952 and was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Shore on June 10, 1953. Over the years, Orpha worked at Hillboro Dime Store, Hugh James Shoe Factory, Maysteel, Gleason Reel and stocked Hallmark greeting cards at Fleet Farm and Piggly Wiggly in Beaver Dam. She also enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren.

Orpha was actively involved in the Free Methodist Church in Beaver Dam, especially with children’s music, for 30 years. She was currently a member of Faith Bible Church in Waupun. She loved listening to Southern gospel quartets, as well as listening to her family sing. She also enjoyed blessing other people with her flowers and traveling throughout North America. Orpha was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Orpha is survived by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Shore of Burnett; her children, Beverly (Wayne) Smith of Beaver Dam, Earl Shore of Atlanta, GA, Dale Shore of Wild Rose, WI, Joyce (Dan) Gernetzke of Blue Springs, MO and David (Kimber) Shore of Kalamazoo, MI; her grandchildren, Greg and Stacy Smith, Mitchell, Andy and Abby Shore, Zachary, Tyler and Drew Shore, Brigitte, Aaron and Jared Gernetzke; one great-grandson, Peyton Paul; her brother, Charles “Bud” (Glee) Hubbard of Minneapolis, MN and her sister, Mary (Nate) McCaulley of Muscoda, WI. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Craig Smith.

A Funeral Service for Orpha was held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 at 12 p.m. (noon) at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam with Rev. Wayne Morrison officiating. Visitation took prior to the service at Cornerstone, beginning at 10 a.m. Immediately following the service, a luncheon was served at Cornerstone.
