Phyllis E McKillip

Phyllis E. McKillip age 94 of Platteville, formerly of Darlington, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Manor Care in Platteville.  Phyllis was born in Woodford, the daughter of John and Bertha (Halvorson) Risser on Sept. 3, 1923.  She graduated from Darlington High School in 1942 and was married to Vincent McKillip on Oct. 10, 1942 in Darlington.  Phyllis lived in the Darlington area her entire life where she farmed with her husband for many years before working at Borg Instrument in Darlington and later in Housekeeping at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. She retired in 1988.
Phyllis is survived by six children: Betha (Dale) Kirch of Livingston, Sandra (Charles) Reger of Redgranite, Linda (Tim) Jamieson of Montfort, Cynthia (John) Vondra of Livingston, Paul (Maryette) McKillip of Kenosha, and Debra (Rick) Ray of Trempealeau; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one sister: Bettie Coulthard, of Janesville.  Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Vincent in 1977; one son: Roger McKillip in infancy; one grandson: Kevin Czerwonka; one sister: Avis Fisher; one brother: Eugene Risser in infancy; one son-in-law Ken Raimer and two brothers-in-law: Murray Fisher and Gary Coulthard.
Phyllis was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women.
She loved spending time with her family and will always be remembered for her passion of reading, which was passed on to her children.   She also enjoyed ceramics, needlework, and taking care of her plants and flowers.
A family remembrance will begin at 11:00 a.m. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Our Lady of Fatima, Holy Rosary parish (730 Wells Street) Darlington, with Rev. Sudhakar Devarapu of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Shullsburg officiating.   Burial will be at Immaculate Conception cemetery, Truman.  A visitation was held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Erickson Funeral Home (508 Park Place) Darlington where a rosary was prayed at 5:00 p.m. A visitation will also be held Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at ericksonfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Phyllis’ name.
