Robert “Bob” E. Flogel, 83, of Belmont, died on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Manor Care Health Center, Platteville. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville, where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #5274. Friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 2:45 p.m., friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the church. Bob was born on Oct. 20, 1934 in Paris Township, Grant County, son of John and Eleanora (Conter) Flogel. Bob was united in marriage to Lorraine Stelpflug on April 23, 1957 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dickeyville. Bob was a lifelong farmer and also an insurance agent for Rural Mutual Insurance Company. Bob was very proud of his registered Holsteins and his farm “Winde Pines Dairy”. Bob served the public through several volunteer civic positions including Belmont Township Chairman. He served in the United States Army from 1957 – 1960 where he was in communications holding badge for expert infantry sharpshooter. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. Bob in his free time enjoyed talking around the United States from his base station citizens band radio and fishing.
Bob is survived by wife of 61 years, Lorraine of Belmont; five children: Sue Ellen (Steven) Munro of Sun Prairie, Jerome Flogel of Milwaukee, Kevin (Will Crider) Flogel of Green Bay, Jeffrey (Christine) Flogel of Seattle, Wash., Robert (Mallory) Flogel, Jr. of Dodgeville; six grandchildren: Mike (Shelly) Paulson, Chad Paulson, Blake (Andrea) Paulson, Justin Ericson, Sibyl and Jeffrey, Jr. Flogel; six great-grandchildren: Madalynn, Briggs, Brody, Audrina Paulson, Greyson and Oliver Ericson; two brothers: Jack Flogel of Platteville and Henry (Delores) Flogel of Mazomanie; one sister, Ruth (Rick Owen) Roling of DeWitt, Iowa; sister-in-law, Grace Flogel of Platteville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Francis and Roy Flogel, sisters, Olive Wiederholt, Charlotte Miller, Celeste Wissing, Rosemary Gassman, and Louella “Lou” Vosberg.
