Robert George 1936-2017

Robert (Bob) George of Patch Grove passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the age of 80 after the onset of any acute illness.

Bob was born December 9, 1936 in Prairie du Chien to Harris George and Faye Chamberlain. He grew up in Soldiers Grove. His love for nature and his passion for hunting continued his entire life. He was also very active in sports and he continued to watch and attend sporting events. He received a B.S. degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin Platteville and taught agriculture for many years. He married the love of his life, Patti McDougal in 1959 and raised four children in Patch Grove. He later left teaching and worked as a feed salesman. His passion was hunting and he was a talented taxidermist. He enjoyed hearing hunting stories when people brought in their deer heads. Bob was a witty character. He was kind and always looked for an opportunity to tell a joke or humorous comment. Bob lost his wife, Patti, just two months ago and his broken heart could not heal.

He is survived by his children: Steven George, Judith (David) Shortess, Terry (Anita) George and Timothy George and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Harris George, Jr., half sister, Lillian McDowell, sister-in-law, Linda George and nephew, Derrick George.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien. A private family committal will be held later at the North Clayton Cemetery, rural Soldiers Grove with Pastor Andy Doll officiating.
