Stephanie K. “Steph” Soper-Hanson, age 57 of Darlington, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. She was born Nov. 7, 1960 in Darlington the daughter of Glenn Soper and Barbara Howe (Dinges). Stephanie grew up in Darlington and attended Darlington High School with the class of 1979. Stephanie moved to Platteville in 1979 and married Rick Koeller on Nov. 15, 1980. In June of 1982 she moved back to Darlington.
Steph loved to bowl and shoot pool – belonging to several different leagues and shooting in numerous tournaments. She was most proud of being top-seed in the women’s shooters at the Blackhawk Pool League.  She had a passion for genealogy and was a very active member and current President of the Lafayette County Historical Society in Darlington.
Steph married Harlan J. Hanson on July 16, 2004 in Cobb. She said, “I’ve found my soul mate,” although those that knew them nicknamed them the “Bickersons.” Harlan has been a member of the Bewoulf MC for over 30 years. Steph loved his motorcycles and the Bewoulf MC, so much so that they became her second family. Her uncles Jerry and Billy Howe are also proud members. Harlan and Steph rode together all over the states of Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois. Her biggest regret was never being able to attend Sturgis in South Dakota.
Steph is survived by her parents and step-parents: Mike Dinges and Gayle Soper; her three children: ReAnna (Bob) Parker and their children: Ross A. Stauffacher, Bobby Parker, Steele Scott, and Braxton Andrew Parker of Darlington; Sarah E. Koeller and her children: Allison Pearl and Evan Lee DeBuhr of Darlington; and Andrew (Sheila Mick) Soper of Fayette; a step-grandson: Bobby King of Platteville; two step-sons: Paul J. Hanson and his son Anikan James Hanson, and Shaun S. (Shanon) Hanson and their daughter: Shanne Sigg; 3 brothers: Stuart (Deana) Soper and their children: Joshua J. Soper and Natalie Kay Soper of Fayette, Scott (Deb) Soper of Mineral Point, Michael (Mel) Dinges Jr., of Stoughton and their children: Katie Dinges and James M. Dinges; several aunts and uncles, and 18 first cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Lutheran Church (1540 Old Highway 81, Argyle) with Rev. Ron Brubakken officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington and on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. at the church.
