William “Bill” J. Fitzsimons, age 59 of Darlington, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at his home. He was born Aug. 28, 1957, in Darlington, the son of John M. and Audrey J. (McCarville) Fitzsimons. Bill lived in Willow Springs Township and attended school in Darlington. Bill owned and operated Fitzsimons Concrete Construction business in Darlington for many years. He enjoyed farming, hunting, and was employed at Crapp Farms in Potosi, where he truly enjoyed operating the big sprayer, combine, and being out in the open fields.
Bill is survived by his love and best friend: Tammy Burnett; eight children: Tara (Tommy) Maresca, Joe (Ashley) Fitzsimons, Billy (Jessi) Fitzsimons, Tammy Fitzsimons, Lee (Karissa Jacobsen) Fitzsimons, Francie (Shane) Reichling, Tim Fitzsimons, and Colton Fitzsimons; four stepchildren: Kelli (Terry) Aide, Jamie (Brandon) Berget, Matthew (Arrissa) Wilson, and Melody Burnett; ten brothers and sisters:  Michael (Margaret) Fitzsimons, Jim (Laurie) Fitzsimons, David (Laura) Fitzsimons, Beth (Tom) Wilhelmson, Lynn (Steve) Olson, Jack (Terri) Fitzsimons, Deborah McQuinn, Susan (Robert) Stietz, Lori Fitzsimons, Dan (Stella) Fitzsimons; one sister-in-law: Judy Fitzsimons; 14 grandchildren: Matthew, Samantha, Amanda, Abby, Layla, Lacey, Olivia, Finn, Quintan, Taven, Abel, Vincent, Knox, Dekker, and baby Maresca, on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: John Jeremy in infancy and Jeff Fitzsimons and a best friend: Tom “Harry” Helm.
Bill was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and lovin’ every day! He enjoyed working in his yard especially mowing his lawn. Bill cherished the time he spent with his large family, especially his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will stay with them forever. Bill’s witty personality will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church a branch of Our Lady of Fatima (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) with Rev. John Bosco Pudhota officiating. Burial will be at Truman Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Truman. A visitation will be held Friday April 28, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church with a rosary being prayed at 4:00 p.m. A visitation will also be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the church.
