Brady Peat, Sr., RB/DE, Iowa–Grant football

Senior halfback Brady Peat’s performance stood out about a number of remarkable Week 1 performances. Peat rushed for a career-high 255 yards and five touchdowns to power Iowa–Grant to a 38–14 non-conference victory over visiting Richland Center last Friday night. Peat, who rushed for 1,328 yards and 13 touchdowns a year ago, is now on pace to blow those numbers out of the water. He scored on runs of 19 and 5 yards in the second quarter to power the Panthers to a 20–0 halftime lead. He then broke loose for a 60-yard TD scamper in the third quarter and added touchdown runs of 21 and 3 yards in the final quarter to close out the season-opening victory. He also finished third on the team with eight tackles, including three tackles for loss.

“Brady is a very hard worker and that translates to the field,” said Iowa–Grant head coach Gary Allen. “He has experience, he is quick, he has good vision, but mostly he runs very hard. He gives everything he has for the team.

Peat helped the Iowa–Grant defense limited the Hornets to 193 yards and nine first downs. Iowa–Grant returns to action Friday at Wauzeka–Steuben/Seneca (1–0).

Jacob Amenda, Sr., QB, Belmont football

Amenda rushed for 119 yards and a pair of touchdowns and completed 9 of 10 passes for yards and a third TD to rally the Braves (1–0) to a 21–18 season opening victory over North Crawford last Saturday at UW–Platteville’s Pioneer Stadium. Amenda’s 2-yard touchdown run with 1:22 left in the game capped Belmont’s 21–6 second-half comeback.

Colby Argall, Sr., RB/DB, Black Hawk football

Argall rushed for 132 yards and three scores and added a dazzling 89-yard punt return to lead Black Hawk to a 51–14 victory over Owen–Withee in a non-conference game at Saturday’s Six Rivers Jamboree at UW–Platteville.

Ty Baucsh, Jr., RB/DB, Potosi/Cassville football

The Cassville junior opened the season with a bang taking his first carry 35 yards for a touchdown on the very first offensive play of the newly formed Potosi/Cassville co-op. Bausch finished the game with 232 yards rushing and four TDs on just 10 carries in the Chieftains’ 56–0 victory over visiting Benton/Scales Mound last Friday night.

Ethan Bernhardt, Sr., QB, Platteville football

Bernhardt completed 20 of 29 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a team-high 63 yards and another score to lead Platteville to a 34–7 win over Cuba City last Friday.

Donovan Blevins, Sr., WR/DB, Platteville football

Blevins caught four passes for 90 yards and three touchdowns in Platteville’s 34–7 win over visiting Cuba City last Friday night.

Ried Larson, Sr., QB, Fennimore football

Larson completed 23 of 33 passes for 289 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead Golden Eagles (1–0) to an 18–13 season-opening non-conference at Lancaster last Friday night. The win was Fennimore’s first over Lancaster, snapping a six-game losing streak to their southern neighbor.

Tyler Millin, Sr., RB/LB, River Ridge football

Millin rushed for 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Timberwolves’ 31–8 win over Shullsburg at Saturday’s Six Rivers Jamboree.

Elijah Smith, Fr., RB/DB, Ithaca football

Smith rushed for 225 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries, and had a pair of interceptions in his varsity debut to spark Ithaca to a 41–19 win over Cashton in last Friday’s season-opening. His sensational debut included a school-record 97 yard touchdown run. He also had an 89 yard TD run.
