POTOSI — Ron Kading and Jerry Downs were recognized at Friday’s football game for their 35 years of coaching baseball at Potosi High School.
During halftime of the Chieftains’ 47–2 victory over Highland a ceremony was held to name Potosi’s baseball field in Kading’s honor.
Downs was also recognized for his years as an assistant coach, a position he has held since 1978.
Kading and Downs were joined at midfield by former Potosi baseball greats as the new Kading Field was unveiled. Downs’ name appears on the bottom of the sign as the field was also dedicated in his honor.
During their 35 years of coaching Kading and Downs have led the Chieftains to a record of 490–226 (.684).
Congratulations for Ron and Jerry for an honor well deserved.
