River Ridge's Bridgette Myers will lead the Western division all-stars in tonight's first Six Rivers All-Star Volleyball match tonight at Monticello High School.

GAME OF THE WEEK (June 30–July 6)

PREP VOLLEYBALL: Six Rivers All-Star Volleyball Game, Thursday, June 30, at Monticello, 7 p.m.

     MONTICELLO – The Six Rivers Conference has added another senior all-start game to its summer line-up with the first ever Six Rivers Volleyball Showdown, that will be held tonight at Monticello High School at 7 p.m.    

     The match will pit the best graduated seniors in the conference against one another in one final prep volleyball match as senior all-conference selections from the Six Rivers West will square off against their senior all-conference counterparts from the Six Rivers east. 

     The teams will be coached by the first and second place teams from each conference. Argyle won the East ahead of Barneveld, while River Ridge won the SRW title ahead of Benton. 

     Belmont’s River Ridge’s Bridgett Myers (the 2015 Six Rivers West Player of the Year), Sydney Bloom, Amber Patterson and Sierra Schier, Potosi’s Maddie Hawes and Taylor Bloyer, Cassville’s Bailie Becwar, Andrea Okey and Jenna Baliff, Benton’s Montana Burmeister and Payton Bastian, Highland’s Bailiee Rose, Shullsburg’s Jada Hicks, Paige Hauser and Lexi Leafier, and Belmont’s Brook Knebel are eligible to play for the West team.

     Black Hawk’s Aleigha Sigafus, Megan Gobeli and Kayla Sigafus are eligible to represent the East.

     The Six Rivers Conference is planning to rotate the location of the all-star volleyball match each year.      

 

RUNNING: 

Wiota 4th of July 5K fun run, Saturday, July 2, 8 a.m.

     The Wiota 4th of July 5K Color run/walk, sponsored by Wiota First Response, will be held Saturday, July 2. Registration begins at 8 a.m., the race at 9 a.m., at Wiota Park. Adults are $20, kids ages 6–12 are $10 and kids 5 and under are free. Proceeds will go to the Wiota Fire Department to help pay for new equipment and training.

Platteville 4th of July 5K run/walk, Monday, July 4, 7:30 a.m.

     The Platteville Parks and Rec department will hold its annual 4th of July 5K run/walk, sponsored by Clare Bank, Monday at the Rollo Jamison Museum. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. There will be a one-mile youth run beginning at 8 a.m. with the adult 5K to start soon after. The run/walk starts and finishes at the museum. There is a $10 entry fee and the first hundred participants received a T-shirt.

 

Boscobel Firecracker run/walk, Monday, July 4, 9 a.m.

     Boscobel’s Firecracker run/walk will be held Monday morning beginning at Kronshage Park. There will be a children’s fun run at 8:45 a.m., followed by the adult five-mile run at 9 a.m. and the adult two-mile run/walk at 9:05 a.m. Trophies will be presented to overall male and female finishers, and medals to first, second and third-place finishers in each age group, male and female for both the two-mile and five-mile runs. Race day registration and packet pickup will be from 7–8:30 a.m. at the shelters at Kronsage Park.
