MCDONALD'S SWNEWS4U.COM GAME OF THE WEEK (Dec. 25–31)
BOYS BASKETBALL: Cuba City 100, Brookfield Academy 82

MEQUON — In one of their biggest tests of the season to date, Cuba City scored a perfect 100.

The Division 4 #1-ranked Cubans scored at a torrid pace to shoot down the D4 #3-ranked Brookfield Academy Blue Knights, 100-82, in a non-conference game held at the 2019 Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Rick Majerus Shootout on Friday, Dec. 27, at Concordia University in Mequon.

Junior forward Brayden Dailey pumped in a game-high 34 points to lead four Cuba City players in double figures. Senior point guard Brady Olson added a season-high 26 points on his way towards earning the MVP award for the game, while junior forward Jack Misky chipped in with a season-high 17 points and senior guard Jackson Noll netted 14 points for the Cubans.

Scoring was coming in bunches throughout the game with the Cubans (6-0 overall) using an early 16-9 run to open up a 21-14 lead. The Blue Knights (5-3) closed back within two however the Cubans built the lead back up to six at 42-36 by the halftime intermission.

The Cubans started the second half off with a 10-3 run over the three minutes to extend their advantage to 13 points, and then continued to send the ball through the net at a blistering rate en route to a season-high 100-point performance.

It is just the second time in the 15-year history of the WBY Shootout that a team reached the century mark, matching the 100 points scored by Germantown in 2012.

Dailey scored 15 of his 34 points over the final 13 minutes of play to keep the Cubans comfortably ahead of the Knights.

Olson went 6-of-7 from the foul line in the game, while Noll and Misky shot 4-for-4 from the line as the Cubans finished 17-of-19 on their free throws for the game.

Brookfield Academy was led by junior forward Logan Landers with 25 points. Senior guard Aidan Clarey sank five 3-pointers on his way to 23 points, and junior guard Max Kunnert chipped in with 21 for the Knights.

The Cubans return home to host Lomira (6-1) in a non-conference contest on Saturday, Jan. 4, starting at 2:30 p.m., and they will remain home to face Boscobel (2-3, 1-2 SWAL) in a SWAL game on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
