Tiger wrestlers surrender three forfeits, win two matches

ELROY — The Hillsboro wrestling team won just two of the eight contested matches and surrendered three forfeits in a 49–15 Scenic Bluffs dual at Royall last Thursday night.

After a double forfeit to open the night at 106 pounds, Royall’s Gunnar Juresh pinned Mitchell Morris at 113, and the Panthers collected forfeit victories at 120 and 126.

After a second double forfeit Royall’s Austin Johnson pinned Katie Blaha to make it 24–0.

Hillsboro (0–2, 0–1 SBC) picked up a forfeit at 145, then Tyler Seeley defeated Katie Sugden 6–4 at 152 to make it 24–9.

After Royall received its third forfeit of the night at 160, Mark Preuss scored a 12–4 major decision over Sebastion Miller at 170 and Dalton Lunde pulled out a 3–1 victory over Hillsboro senior Max Sebranek at 182 in the match of the night.

Hillsboro’s Jacob Benish scored a lightning-quick seven-second pin of Sam Guilfoil at 195 to score the Tigers' final points of the night.

Royall closed out the match with first-period pins at 220 and 285.

The Tigers will return to action tonight with another conference dual at Necedah. Saturday they will compete at the Richland Invitational.
