Track: Hillsboro sends 27 events to sectionals
Boys qualify in 18 events, including all four relays; girls qualify in nine

CASHTON — Several members of the Hillsboro track team extended their seasons with top four finishes at Monday’s WIAA Division 3 Cashton Regionals.

In all, the Tigers qualified Thursday’s D3 Fennimore Sectional, which will be held at Viroqua High School, in 27 events.
The Hillsboro boys qualified for sectionals in 18 events, including all four relays.

Junior Matt Bartels was a four-event qualifier after winning the 200 (23.54) and long jump (19–7), and finishing second in the 100-meter dash (11.78) and the 4x100 relay (47.04).

Fellow junior Max Sebranek qualified for sectionals in the 100 hurdles (16.44) and the 300 hurdles (42.24) winning both events at regionals, as well as the 4x100 relay.

Scott Sobczak also qualified in both hurdles events.

Alex Shaker qualified in the 800, Nick Skala advanced in the 1,600, and both Logan Rohn and Noah Mayberry moved on in the 3,200.

Warren Paulson qualified in the 300 hurdles and high jump, while Spencer Treu earned a spot in Thursday’s sectional in the shot put.

The Hillsboro boys scored 140 points Monday and finished second to Bangor (140).

On the girls’ side, Hillsboro scored 84.5 points, placed third and qualified for sectionals in nine events.

The 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 relays advanced as did Hilary Stanek in the long jump and shot put, Michaela Bach in the 3,200, Leeta Russell in the 100 hurdles, Morgan Huntley in the shot put and Stephanie Munson in the discus.
