Vikings unleash aerial assault on host T-Wolves

River Ridge quarterback Joel Mezera had runs of 31 and 21 yards during last Friday night's football game against Pec./Argyle, but the Timberwolves only scored once in a 46-6 route by the Vikings. Mezera finished the night with 159 yards on 20 rushing attempts.

BLOOMINGTON - Visiting Pec./Argyle put their potent passing game on display last Friday night in Bloomington, as quarterback Jon Hendrickson torched the Timberwolves for 261 yards and four touchdowns in a lop-sided 46-6 victory for the Vikings.

Hendrickson completed 9-of-11 passing attempts for 261 yards, four TDs and no interceptions, as the River Ridge defense had no answer for the Viking’s star.

Hendrickson also ran for a pair of one-yard touchdowns, having his had in all six of his team’s offensive touchdowns.

The only score Hendrickson wasn’t involved in was a fumble recover in the end zone late in the fourth quarter for the Vikings.

By the time the clock had hit zero, Pec./Argyle had managed 205 yards rushing to go along with 261 yards through the air.

Coach Wade Winkers’ squad finished the night with 219 yards rushing on 44 attempts, while newly appointed quarterback Joel Mezera was 0-for-2 through the air.

Mezera did lead the team in rushing, managing 159 yards on 20 carries.

Sophomore fullback Zach Ertz had the team’s only score, a 34-yard TD run in the fourth quarter, and finished the night with 73 yards on 18 carries.

Leading the River Ridge defense with seven tackles each were Ertz and Jeremy Cliff.

The Timberwolves (1-1) will next travel to Highland (2-0) this Friday night to take on the unbeaten Cardinals who are coming off a 27-21 victory over Black Hawk (0-2).
