Boscobel named conference champs in 10 events

Boscobels Austin Wilcox placed first overall in pole vault with a vault of 11 during the Sparky Reynolds Memorial Invitational on Thursday afternoon.

The 2015 track season is finally starting to dwindle down, starting with the SWAL Conference meet that was held at Boscobel High School on Tuesday afternoon. The teams participating were Darlington, Southwestern, Cuba City, Fennimore, and Riverdale. Coming out as conference champions was Darlington for the boys scoring 188 points and Cuba City for the girls scoring 206 points. Boscobel’s boys finished in third place with a score of 109.5 points and their girls finished in second place with a score of 114 points. Ending the meet as conference champions were Keely Foley, Mackenzie Kauffman, Dakota Kauffman, and Jordan Molzof. The boys’ also were conference champions in the 4x200, 4x400, and 4x800 meter relay.

Girls

Earning medals for Boscobel’s girls’ team in individual running events were Mackenzie Kauffman, Rachel Davis, Molly Pegram, Karissa Lange, and Carli Haines. Kauffman placed first in the 1600 meter run, finishing in a time of 5:46 and in the 3200 meter run, finishing in a time of 12:04. Davis followed behind Kauffman in both races finishing the 1600 meter run in a time of 6:04 and the 3200 meter run in a time of 12:54. Pegram followed behind Davis in both races, finishing the 1600 meter run in a time of 6:08 and in the 3200 meter run in a time of 12:58. Lange finished second in the 100 meter hurdles finishing in a time of 18.01 seconds. Haines had a second place finish in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 53.79 seconds.

Autumn Moret was the final individual runner finishing in the top five of the 200 meter dash. In the preliminaries she finished in fifth place in a time of 32.03 seconds earning a spot in the finals. Then in the finals she placed fifth again finishing in a time of 32.04 seconds. Haines had a fifth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 19.93 seconds.
The girls’ had a 4x800 meter relay team competed against four other schools and finished in second place in a time of 10:10. The team consisted of Mackenzie Kauffman, Molly Pegram, Keely Foley, and Rachel Davis.

Finishing in the top five in field events for Boscobel’s girls were Karissa Lange, Keely Foley, Sydney Haines, and Grace Roth. Foley placed first in pole vault with a vault of 9’. She was followed by teammate Sydney Haines with a vault of 7’06”. Lange placed second in high jump with a jump of 4’10” and in long jump in a time of 15’10”. Roth placed fifth in discus with a throw of 93’09”.

Boys

Earning medals for Boscobel’s girls’ team in individual running events were Marcello Andrade, Jordan Molzof, Matthew Clark and Dakota Kauffman. Molzof placed first in the 1600 meter run in a time of 2:03. Kauffman placed first in the 1600 meter run in a time of 4:38 and in the 3200 meter run in a time of 9:53. Andrade placed first in the 200 meter dash preliminaries in a time of 24.10 seconds earning a spot in the finals. When competing in the finals, he finished in second place in a time of 23.93. He was surpassed by Kade Carey from Darlington who finished in a time of 23.92. Clark finished in third int he 110 meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 19.67.

Other top five finishes completed by Boscobel’s boys as individuals were by Matthew Fritz, Jack Latham, Zach Mindham, and Gavin Bell. Fritz placed fourth in the 800 meter run, finishing in a time of 2:16. Bell finished fourth in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 48.85 seconds. Latham placed fifth in the 1600 meter run, finishing in a time of 5:09. Zach Mindham placed fifth in the 3200 meter run in a time of 10:52.

Boscobel had a boys’ meter relay team in all four races and earned first place in the 4x200, 4x400, and the 4x800. They had a second place finish in the 4x100 meter relay. The boys’ 4x200 meter relay team consisted of Brandon Mindham, Chase Kull, Marcello Andrade, and Seht Laxton finished in a time of 1:35. Those same boys made up the 4x400 meter relay team, that finished in a time of 3:38. The 4x800 meter relay team including Seth Laxton, Zach Mindham, Jordan Molzof, and Dakota Kauffman, finished in a time of 8:12. The 4x100 meter relay team included Brandon Mindham, Matthew Clark, Chase Kull, and Hunter Drake, finished in a time of 47.64 seconds.

In field events Boscobel had top five finishes by Matthew Fritz, Wyatt Roth, and Marcus Stalsberg. Roth placed third in shot put with a throw of 41’. He also placed fourth in discus with a throw of 116’06”. Stalsberg placed fifth in shot put with a throw of 38’03”. Fritz placed fifth in pole vault with a vault of 8’06”.
