Bulldog cross country teams start strong

BOSCOBEL - The Boscobel Cross Country team kicked off their 2019 season on Saturday, August 31 at the Gale Johnson Invitational in West Salem.  The meet featured several highly ranked teams in Division 1, 2, and 3, including the boys Division 3 defending state champions, La Crosse Aquinas, and an Onalaska girls team that placed 3rd at last year's WIAA Division 1 State Championship Meet. 

Both Boscobel teams had strong performances, with the girls finishing 5th in the invitational and the boys 6th. 

The girls team consisting of sophomores Ellie Jilson, Maddie Fritz, Avery Brown, juniors Makala Fritz and Katelyn Seeley was led by sophomore, Abri Brown with a time of 21:04.

The boys were led by sophomore Levi Glasbrenner with a time of 17:46.  The other varsity boys running on Saturday were seniors Mitchell Davis, and David Martinez, juniors Evan Belz, and Blake Sander, and sophomores Ben Bohringer, and Parker Steele.

The Bulldogs next competition will be Thursday, Sept. 5 at River Valley.  The team will then host a home meet at the Ryan Zimpel Memorial Cross Country Course on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
