BOSCOBEL - The Boscobel Bulldogs girls’ basketball team suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of the Riverdale Chieftains in conference play Thursday night, Feb. 4.

Riverdale hit the court with aggressive play, moving the ball rapidly amongst themselves, while simultaneously proving quick to dart in for the steal and rebound. Paired with shot completion struggles on the Lady Bulldog’s side, Boscobel headed into the half trailing 18-39.

Fouling troubles for the Chieftains, who showed a willingness to get in close to their opponents, helped give the Bulldogs 31 opportunities from the free throw line throughout the game. But the trouble hitting the basket meant the Bulldogs only made 12 of those shots, compared to the Chieftains 11 of 19 attempts.

Play in the second half remained consistent with the action in the first half, with the Bulldogs trailing 21-38, for a final score of 39-77, giving Riverdale the win.

v. Fennimore

The Lady Bulldogs travelled to Fennimore for additional conference play against the Golden Eagles Tuesday night, Feb. 9.

The two teams played a close game throughout the first half. Time and again, the Bulldogs would gain the lead, just to have Fennimore regroup and catch back up.

Ultimately, the Lady Bulldogs fell to the Golden Eagles, 47-59.

The losses leave the Bulldogs with a 1-11 conference record and 2-16 overall.

The Lady Bulldogs host conference rival Cuba City Friday night, Feb. 12. Varsity play gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
