DARLINGTON – Junior Kennedy Wagner finished seventh overall with a round of 110 to lead the Darlington Redbirds girls’ golf team at their annual Gary Ringen Memorial Invitational held at the Darlington Country Club on Friday, Aug. 18.
Southwestern/Cuba City senior Bailee Bussan fired a seven-over 77 to earn individual medalist honors at the meet and lead her Wildcats to the team title as well with a score of 434. Prairie du Chien was second with a 447, followed by Mount Horeb at 456, Lancaster at 470 and the host Redbirds at 484.
PdC’s Mackenzie Maguire (89) and Lancaster’s Lindsay Wolf (96) were the only other golfers to shoot under 100 during the 18-hole event.
Sophomores Marissa Gould and Maggie Nordquist carded rounds of 121 and 123, respectively, for the ‘Birds, while junior Chloe Muhlstein carded a 130 to complete the team scoring for the hosts.
Darlington’s match against East Dubuque, which was originally scheduled to be played on Monday, Aug. 21, has been rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 1, starting at 9 a.m.
The Redbirds will participate in the Prairie du Chien Invitational on Friday, Aug. 25, starting at 9 a.m., and host Lancaster in a dual match at the DCC on Monday, Aug. 28, also at 9 a.m.
