Freshman Ying Xiong works his way around a defender in Thursdays 70 loss to Monroe.

Hauth scored late in the second overtime of last Tuesday’s SWC clash with visiting Prairie du Chien to lift the Platteville/Lancaster boys’ soccer team to a 2–1 league victory.
Freshman midfielder Hans Chaves assisted on the game-winner giving the Hillmen their second SWC victory of the young season.
Two weeks ago Platteville/Lancaster was on the flip side of the coin losing its SWC opener 2–1 in the final minute of double overtime at Dodgeville/Mineral Point.
The Hillmen (2–5, 2–1 SWC) outshot Prairie du Chien 9–2 in the match, but needed extra time to pull out the victory.
“We almost shot ourselves in the foot by not capitalizing on our dominance,” said Hillmen head coach Ryan Pink. “We controlled every aspect of the game, but as you can see by the shot count, we just weren’t on target."
Platteville junior forward Ryan Pink scored an unassisted goal midway through the first half to give the Hillmen an early 1–0 lead.
Prairie du Chien’s Austin Roach scored the equalizer late in the second half on an assist from Danny Adamany.
“Prairie was able to hang in and get a sucker punch of a goal in the dying minutes on their first shot of the game,” said Pink. “The guys played well, but there are big holes that we need to improve on right now, namely our accuracy in front of goal and playing solid defense, especially late in games. The positive was that when push came to shove the guys got the win in overtime.”
Last Thursday Platteville/Lancaster fell to 0–4 in non-conference matches this year with a lopsided 7–0 loss to visiting Monroe.
Ryne Miller and Dan Tinoco scored two goals apiece for the victorious Cheesemakers.
Platteville/Lancaster hosted Dodgeville/Mineral Point on Tuesday and will next travel to River Valley on Thursday. The Hillmen will then participate in the Port Washington Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
