LANCASTER – The Fall high school sports season has officially begun with the Lancaster girls golf team kicking things off last Friday morning at the Darlington Quadrangular.
Under the tutelage of coach Sarah Williams, the Flying Arrows finished second to the tri-op team of Southwestern/Cuba City/Benton, shooting a team score of 241, which was just four strokes behind the leaders.
Lancaster junior Lindsey Wolf led the Flying Arrows with a 16-over-par round of 51, while senior Sydney Kwallek came in with a 62.
In their first varsity golf meet, junior Amberiel Schwab shot a 63, while freshman Sarah Farrey and Morgan Cooley shot a 65 and 78 respectively.
This past Monday, the Flying Arrow Five participated in the Stoughton Scramble, where they finished tied for 13th of 14 teams with a score of 85.
On the following Tuesday morning, Lancaster hosted Southwestern/Cuba City/Benton and East Dubuque in a triangular meet, where East Dubuque took top honors with a 202 and Lancaster was last with a 240.
Wolf led Lancaster with a round of 56, while Schwab shot a 58, Cooley a 59, Kwallek a 67 and Farrey an 84.
The Lancaster ladies will next be in action this Friday at the Darlington Invite, then will golf at the SW/CC/B Invite at the Galena Golf Club next Tuesday.
