River Valley edges out Lancaster
Boys' golf team sits second after three conference meets

Lancaster senior Andrew Gates shot a 40 at last Thursday's SWC Meet in Richland Center, sharing medalist honors with sophomore teammate Josh Hentrich.

 

With a second-place finish at last Thursday’s Southwest Wisconsin Conference meet at Richland Center, the Lancaster varsity boys’ golf team is one point behind league-leading River Valley with three meets in the books.

With the team victory last Thursday night, the Blackhawks have 17 conference points after three meets, while the Flying Arrows have 16.

Valley concluded Thursday night’s meet with a team score of 169, while Lancaster wasn’t far behind with a 174.

Leading Lancaster were senior Andrew Gates and sophomore Josh Hentrich, who shared medalist honors with a five-over-par round of 40 at Quail Run.

Senior Nathan Farrey finished with a 42, while Ryan McNamara came in with a 52.

After three conference meets, Lancaster holds the top three individual spots in the conferene rankings.

Hentrich remains the league’s top individual with 88.5 conference points, while Gates is in second at 84, and Farrey third at 78.5.

This past Saturday, the Flying Arrows competed in the River Valley Invite held at the House on the Rock Resort, where they finished third as a team behind the host Blackhawks and Sauk Prairie.

With a team score of 346, the Arrows were led by Farrey, who shot a five-over-par round of 77, followed by Gates and Hentrich who both shot an 81. Rounding out Lancaster’s score was freshman Dillon Marshall with a 107.

Medalist honors went to Cuba City senior Drew Zimmeran, who shot a one-under-par round of 71.

Following this past Tuesday’s conference meet at the House on the Rock Resort, the Flying Arrows will play at Dodge/Point this Thursday night, at Reedsburg on Friday, and at Viroqua on Saturday.
