Platteville native honored in Florida for elderly ministry

A Platteville native and UW–Platteville graduate was honored for improving the lives of the elderly in Florida.

Rev. Dale Young, director of Congregational Health at Baptist Health South Florida, received the Alliance on Aging of Miami–Dade and Monroe counties’ President’s Award at its 23rd annual Installation and Luncheon.

Young was the staff chaplain at Baptist Hospital of Miami before developing Congregational Health, which partners with 150 faith communities in Miami–Dade and Broward counties.

Young is ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He graduated from Platteville High School in 1964 and UW–Platteville in 1968. He earned his Master of Divinity degree at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Iowa, and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree at the Florida Center for Theological Studies.

Young and his wife, Doris, have two sons and one daughter, and two grandchildren.
