One person was hurt in a head-on crash on Wisconsin 81 in the Town of Ellenboro March 18. According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, Sara Goodney, 21, Lancaster, was driving north on 81 near Jentz–Baker Road just before 5:30 when she lost control on the ice-covered road. Goodney’s SUV crossed the center line and hit a car driven by Shaina Stone, 28, Platteville. Stone had to be extricated from her car by the Platteville Fire Department Jaws of life. Stone was taken to Southwest Health Center by Platteville EMS with non-life-threatening injuries. Goodney was cited for operating left of center, failure to wear a seat belt, and having no proof of car insurance. Both vehicles were totaled. UW–Platteville police assisted at the scene.
