State Rep. Ed Brooks (R-Reedsburg) has earned the Dairy Business Association’s Legislative Excellence Award, presented last week at the Dairy Strong Conference in Madison.

“DBA’s Legislative Excellence Award is the dairy industry’s opportunity to recognize those legislators who have been leaders on agricultural issues,” said John Holevoet, DBA’s Director of Government Affairs. “These annual awards are our way of saying thank you. Rep. Brooks is one of the few dairy producers serving in the Assembly and he has been a consistent and strong voice for Wisconsin dairy.”

Brooks, who holds a degree in agricultural economics and has spent most of his life in the dairy industry, was honored to receive the award.

“I’m proud to work on behalf of the dairy farmers who work so hard for us,” said Brooks, whose Assembly district includes Greenwood township. “Agriculture is a central pillar of Wisconsin’s economy, and the dairy industry is a huge part of Wisconsin agriculture. When dairy is strong, the Wisconsin economy is strong.”
