Winter crop management update is Feb. 18 in Sparta

University of Wisconsin Extension will be holding a half day grain crops update Feb. 18  at Jake’s Northwoods in Sparta.

The program will begin with registration at 9:30 a. m. Presentations will begin at 10 a.m., and wrap up at noon.  Light snacks will be provided.

Dr. Brian Luck, UW Extension Machinery Specialist, will present information on using variable rate application technology, remote sensing, and how to use the data collected from precision ag to help improve your bottom line.

Via webinar, Dr. Carrie Laboski will present information on managing fertilizer inputs for 2016 and updates on recent potassium research trials.

A Field Corn Disease Management Update will include a review of the 2015 season findings and management considerations for the 2016 growing season.  Bill Halfman, UW Extension Ag Agent, will present information on corn disease management.

Contact the Monroe County Extension Office, 608-269-8722, by Feb. 15 to pre-register so that enough handouts and snacks can be planned for.
