Four area residents are facing charges following separate interactions with a criminal informant in August of 2016.
Bryant Olson, 29 and his wife Sarah Olson, 29, of Gays Mills both face two counts of Delivery of a Schedule I, II, or II Non-Narcotic as a party to a crime. If convicted of these Class H Felony charges the pair both may not be fined more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than six years or both. The court may also suspend the operating privileges for not less than six months nor more than five years.
The criminal complaint issued by the Crawford County Circuit Court states that on August 15, 2016, a criminal informant was given $100 by authorities to purchase Suboxone, a Schedule III controlled subsatance. Suboxone is a prescription medication that is used to treat opioid addiction.
It states in the criminal complaint that the C.I. was under constant surveillance and that this person was observed entering the residence of Bryant and Sarah Olson. The C.I. was in the residence for a very short time. The C.I. was observed exiting the residence and proceeding to a pre-determined location.
Once at the location, the C.I. met with law enforcement and turned over a half of a suboxone strip. The C.I. stated that Bryant and Sarah informed the C.I. that they had not yet gotten their Suboxone prescriptions filled, but they agreed to “front” the C.I. with half of an eight milligram Suboxone strip with the understanding that the C.I. would return August 16, both to pay for this half Suboxone strip and to pick up additional Suboxone strips. The C.I. stated that he was then given the half Suboxone strip. The same controlled purchase protocol was used as the day prior, the C.I. was surveyed going into the Olson residence, but was told they still did not have the new prescription of Suboxone.
According to the criminal complaint, on August 17, 2016, the C.I. made contact with the Olsons and went to their residence. The C.I. met with law enforcement at a pre-determined location and the C.I. turned over four two milligram Suboxone strips.
The C.I. stated that he received the Suboxone strips from both Bryant and Sarah Olson, according to the criminal complaint. Bryant Olson is prescribed the eight-milligram and Sarah is prescribed the two-milligram.
On April 7, Bryant waved his right to a preliminary hearing and entered a not guilty plea, according to the Crawford County Clerk of Courts. He will have a jury status hearing on June 14. Sarah has an upcoming preliminary hearing on April 19 at 2:30 p.m.
In another case, Dale R Coppernoll, 43, DeSoto, is facing a charge of Delivery of Schedule I or II Narcotics, a Class E Felony. Upon conviction, he may be fined not more than $50,000 or imprisoned not more than 15 years or both.
The charges come following an incident that occurred on August 29, 2016, in the Village of Gays Mills, where Coppernoll allegedly sold Adderall, a medication commonly used to treat ADHD, to a criminal informant.
On August 29, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Joe Breeser, and the criminal informant (C.I.) met concerning a controlled purchase of Adderall pills, a Schedule II controlled substance, from David Coppernoll.
Breeser stated that the C.I. was searched, briefed, and provided with $150 to attempt to purchase 30 Adderall pills, Breeser stated in the criminal complaint that he observed the C.I. head toward a pre-determined meeting place, located in the Village of Gays Mills.
Breeser continued to monitor the C.I. who was observed approaching Coppernoll’s vehicle and engaging with him through the driver’s side window of the door, according to the criminal complaint.
The Coppernoll was witnessed exchanging items with the C.I. in a driveway, the criminal complaint states. Shortly after, Copernoll departed and the area and the C.I. met with Breeser at a predetermined location.
The C.I. handed Breeser an orange bottle containing a quantity of approximately 30 pills later identified to be Adderall pills, a Schedule II controlled substance, According to the criminal complaint.
Coppernoll is scheduled for an adjourned initial appearance on May 1 at 2 p.m.
In another case, Eric J. Wollschlager, 49, Soldiers Grove, is facing a charge of Delivery of a Schedule I or II Narcotics- a Class E Felony. If convicted, Wollschlager may be fined not more than $50,000 or imprisoned not more than 15 years or both.
On August 31, 2016, law enforcement met with a Criminal Informant (C.I.), according to the criminal compalint. The C.I. was searched, briefed, and given $120 of pre-recorded cash to purchase 30 Adderall pills from Wollschlager.
According to the Criminal Complaint issued by the Crawford County Circuit Court, the C.I. was under constant surveillance when as the C.I. approached the Wollschlager residence, located in the Village of Soldiers Grove.
Allegedly the C.I. went into the residence and exited the residence a short time later, according to the criminal complaint. The C.I. then proceeded to the pre-determined location where the C.I. turned over 60 Adderall pills to law enforcement. The C.I. stated that Wollschlager was supposed to deliver only 30 pills, but he gave the C.I. 60 pills with the instruction that the C.I. was supposed to pay another $120 later that week.
Wollschlager had a preliminary hearing on April April 10 and was bound over until his Arraignment on April 17 at 3 p.m.
