The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office July 12 interviewed a La Crosse woman believed to be connected to two incidents of criminal damage to property involving fields in rural Vernon County.

Katie Karper, 26, is suspected of driving a vehicle through two fields, substantially damaging both the fields and the crops growing in them.

The first incident, near Co. Road V, Mt. Tabor, was reported May 2. The second incident occurred nearly seven weeks later, on June 22, near Norwegian Hollow Road, Ontario.  Damage to the fields estimated at over $2,000.

A farmer saw the vehicle Karper drove and wrote down the license plate number.  She admitted causing the damage in the interview.

Karper has not been arrested. Charges will be sought through the Vernon County District Attorney’s office.
