A 44-year-old Mount Hope man was arrested on battery and drug charges May 9.
Grant County deputies were called to a Town of Mount Hope home around 8:20 p.m. after a report of a domestic disturbance.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, Michael A. Harvey and a woman had been in an argument while on the way home from a bar, and after they stopped at a home on Shady Dell Road, Harvey struck the woman near her left eye with his fist.
Harvey called the woman “obscene and vulgar names” once they returned home.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, Harvey threw what appeared to be a small bag of marijuana on the floor while deputies were searching him for weapons.
The woman was taken by Fennimore EMS to Grant Regional Health Center after she passed out at the home, according to the sheriff’s department.
Harvey was charged with felony battery, disorderly conduct — domestic abuse, and second-offense possession of marijuana. He was bound over for trial on the charges Thursday. A status conference is set for July 31, with trial set for Aug. 13.
