Man arrested for sixth OMVI

PLATTEVILLE — A 42-year-old Platteville man was arrested for sixth-offense drunk driving early Friday morning.

Barry J. Cook, 165 E. Furnace St., was stopped by police for speeding on East Business 151 around 1:45 a.m. Police noticed “a strong odor of intoxicants,” and Cook was arrested.

Cook faces six years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted and given the maximum sentence.

•    A 20-year-old Platteville woman was issued three tickets after a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

Emily R. Kaiser was ticketed for drunk driving, prohibited alcohol concentration and minor transporting intoxicants in a motor vehicle after a traffic stop at Main Street and Preston Drive around 12:50 a.m., according to police.
