UPDATED 12:30 p.m. - Authorities have arrested a woman in the investigation into the death of a 3.5-month old infant, and the man originally taken into custody is being freed.


On July 10, upon details learned from death investigation, Renae L. Bellis, 31, Boscobel, has been arrested and being held in the Grant County Jail.  Bellis is being held in jail for First Degree Reckless Homicide in the death of the female infant. Bellis was a resident of the location where the death occurred, but the releases from the Boscobel Police Dpartment and Grant County Sheriff’s Office do not tell what the relation is between the infant and accused.


The incident remains under investigation by the Boscobel Police Department and the Grant County Sheriff’s Department.
In a previous news release, authorities had announced they had arrested Mark T. Rand, who also lives at the home where the death occurred. Rand will be released from custody of the Grant County Jail.

ORIGINAL POST - Boscobel Police Chief Todd Stenner announced that his depertment, along the the Grant County Sheriff's Office, are investigating the death of a young child, initially arresting someone.

On July 9, at 8:24 a.m., Boscobel Police were dispatched to a residence in the City of Boscobel for a death investigation. An investigation resulted in the arrest of Mark T. Rand, 39, Boscobel. Rand is in custody at the Grant County Jail for First Degree Reckless Homicide of a 3.5 month old female infant - NOTE UPDATE, Rand has been released after a new person has been arrested.

An autopsy was performed on July 9, and the investigation is on-going.

There is no further threat to the community, as this was a single and focused incident. Rand was a resident of the location where this incident occurred. Further charges may be filed by the Grant County District Attorney’s office.
