BELMONT — The Belmont School Funds advisory board will host a 5K Fun Run/Walk Friday, Sept. 18.

This inaugural event is being held in conjunction with the 101st annual Belmont School Fair.

The site of the start of this new event is Bond Park on Park Street in Belmont. The route will follow the Pecatonica State Trail, going west from Bond Park and going under U.S. 151 before returning to Bond Park.

On-site registration will begin at 4:30 p.m. Participants may pre-register using the online form available on the Belmont Schools website, www.belmont.k12.wi.us.  Cost, which includes a T-shirt for those registered by Sept. 4, is $15 for students (18 or younger) and $30 for adults.

“Our hope is that we get a great response to this inaugural fun run/walk,” said co-organizer Kim Schmelz. “We are excited to provide an opportunity for all to partake in a new fair weekend event and to take steps to invest in our children.”

The 5K Fun Run/Walk is an initiative of the Belmont School Funds. All proceeds will benefit the Belmont Excellence in Education and Belmont Scholarship Endowment Funds which are components of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin.
