Board sees remodeling project, school opening on time

DARLINGTON – The Darlington School District Board of Education toured the Darlington High School remodel project after the monthly meeting Monday night, Aug. 21.
District Administrator Denise Wellnitz informed the board on what still needed to be completed but stated that school would be opening on time on Sept. 5. The biggest change the board noted was the library, with furniture, flooring and walls up, compared to last time the board saw the room. Wellnitz stated that some workers helping complete the library are graduates of Darlington and are excited about the changes.
The Darlington School District Board of Education also approved/accepted:
-a donation of CPR pocket masks for all sports first aid bags and the fee for CPR/First Aid training or coaches this year donated by the Optimist Club.
-a donation of new clothing, school supplies and non-perishable snacks, valued at $400 from the Lafayette County Speedway Promotions for students in need in the upcoming year at DEMS.
-a donation from Judith Thomas of $200 toward the Joe Thomas Scholarship Fund.
-a donation of $740 to Fund 21 for cross country uniforms from the Darlington Cross Country Boosters.
-Jalaine Ruegsegger as a volunteer as a Kindergarten Assistant during the 2017-2018 school year.
-Jacob Tuescher as a volunteer as a DHS Assistant Football Coach for the 2017 season.
-Taryn Evenstad and Tatum Evenstad as volunteers as DHS Assistant Cross Country Coaches for the 2017 season.
