Platteville High School senior Saafia Masoom will be competing in the 79th annual American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program in Indianapolis this weekend.

The quarterfinals Saturday at 8:45 a.m. will reduce the field of 53 to nine. The semifinals Saturday at 2:15 p.m. will reduce the field from nine to three. The finals will be Sunday at 9 a.m. and will be streamed live at www.legion.org.

Competitors will deliver a rehearsed eight- to 10-minute address and a randomly assigned three- to five-minute oration on a constitutional topic, each without notes and in front of a live audience, including the judges.
