Platteville Public Schools residents will have multiple opportunities to learn about the $15 million referendum before Election Day April 7.

Information sessions are scheduled for Neal Wilkins Early Learning Center March 24 at 6 p.m., Platteville High School March 26 at 7 p.m., Westview Elementary School March 30 at 6 p.m., and Platteville Middle School March 31 at 6 p.m.

The school referendum also will be the subject of the Platteville Regional Chamber’s Good Morning Platteville at Take 2 Restaurant Thursday, March 26 at 7:30 a.m.

“We do have aging facilities,” said PPS superintendent Connie Valenza, who added that the school district’s $400,000 annual maintenance budget “will not address all these items that have been identified. ... If the referendum were not to pass, that would put more pressure on our overall operating budget.”

The school district also has a website, www.Platteville.k12.wi.us/Platteville-school-district-referendum/, with information on each facet of the $16.6 million project, including entrance work at all four schools, maintenance priorities, moving first and fourth grades to Westview, science labs at PMS and PHS, the project’s tax impact, and a Frequently Asked Questions page.

The school district also has a Facebook page, Platteville School District Referendum.
