SWC Honors Choir to perform at Platteville

The Southwest Wisconsin Honors Choir will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Platteville High School. The Honors Choir is a select choir featuring the best 12 singers from six high schools: Dodgeville, Lancaster, Platteville, Prairie du Chien, Richland Center and River Valley. The guest conductor for the day-long rehearsal and concert is Dr. Andrew Last from Luther College.

The music to be performed is “Fight the Good Fight with All Thy Might” from “Five Hymns in Popular Style” by John Gardner, “Gartan Mother’s Lullaby” and Irish folk song arranged by Neil Ginsberg with violin accompaniment, “Hallelujah, Amen” from “Judas Maccabaeus” by George Handel, an a cappella piece “Even Such Is Time” by Bob Chilcott, and the powerful selection “It Takes a Village” by Joan Szymko.

Richland Center High School will be represented by Keely Liska, Chay Schmitt, and Laura Ewing on soprano, Brooke Peterson, Alexis Ewing and Brianna Crotsenberg on alto, Logan Willis, Zac Larson and Collin Thompson on tenor, and Cody Kintz, Nolen Moore and Sterling Sauter on bass.

The choir will perform in concert at 7 p.m. in the Platteville High School auditorium. Everyone is welcome and the concert is free.
