NORTH CRAWFORD - Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning ‘Matilda: The Musical’ is a captivating masterpiece that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life.
With a book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, Matilda’s tale of a children’s uprising continues to thrill and inspire from the page to the stage.
Matilda (Ariel Knoble) is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence, and telekinetic powers. She is unloved by her cruel parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood (Jameson Adkins & Dmitri Staum), but impresses her adoring schoolteacher, Miss Honey (Lena Schmidt).
During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however.
The school's cruel headmistress, Miss Trunchbull (Aaron Maly), hates children and just loves to punish those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal measure, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!
“This is truly a wondrous production,” says North Crawford Playhouse Director Brandon Bankes. “Our phenomenal cast brings Roald Dahl’s iconic characters to life in brilliant ways, and we have constructed a stunning technical apparatus to awe-inspiring effect.
“If a bit of wholesome mischief, an enormous quantity of chocolate cake, and a few small miracles appeal to you, then you simply must come and see this show!”
Packed with high-energy choreography, catchy but moving songs, and an unforgettable story, Matilda is a joyous and unexpected adventure. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.
