Benton observes Labor Day with parade, events

The 119th annual Benton Labor Day Celebration will take place on Sept. 5-7.

Events this year include:

Saturday, Sept. 5
- Alumni and friends golf tournament at Cole Acres Golf Club; call for tee times
- Swindler’s Ridge Museum open on Main Street from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
- 1851 Village School House Museum open at Village Park from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Fever River Puppeteers presentation of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ at the Hazel Green Opera House at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- Benton High School Alumni Banquet at Banfield’s Swiss Haus; doors open at 4:30, meal served at 6 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 6
- Swindler’s Ridge Museum open on Main Street from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
- 1851 Village School House Museum open at Village Park from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Fr. Mazzuchelli’s Rectory/Historical Display near St. Patrick’s Rectory by appointment; call 608-759-2131
- Fever River Puppeteers presentation of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ at the Hazel Green Opera House at 2 p.m.
- Chicken BBQ available at Village Park from 4-6 p.m.
- Street Dance: Classical Blast on Main Street from 8 p.m. to midnight; must be 21 to attend, no exceptions

Monday, Sept. 7
- Parade featuring Bucky Badger on Main Street at 9:30 a.m.
- Bingo at Village Park from 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
- Craft fair at Village Park from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Inflatables and Midway games at Village Park all day
- Pasty dinner at St. Patrick’s Hall at 11 a.m.
- Fr. Mazzuchelli’s Rectory/Historical Display near St. Patrick’s Rectory from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Swindler’s Ridge Museum open on Main Street from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
- 1851 Village School House Museum open at Village Park from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Music in the park at Village Park from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
- Duck races at Horseshoe Bend Bridge at 3 p.m.
- Music at Village Park from 5-7 p.m.
- Drawings and parade winners announced at Village Park at 7 p.m.
